Jesus said the mission of the church is to “make disciples” (Matthew 28:19). In the
next verse He said that making disciples would involve “teaching.” I am excited about a
new teaching/learning opportunity at Bethany. It’s called the School of Discipleship.
School of Discipleship
 I am concerned about what I perceive to be a trend in our culture. There is a decreasing knowledge of the Bible and basic Christian beliefs. So I want everyone at Bethany to have at least a basic knowledge of the books of the Bible and understanding of Christian doctrine. To meet that need we’re going to start something called the School of Discipleship. Over the next few years we will offer month-long courses in the New Testament, the Old Testament, Christian Doctrine, Church History, and Spiritual Life. Those courses will be offered occasionally during our Bible Fellowship Group time (9:00 am, Sundays), beginning in April. Please note, our Bible Fellowship Groups will continue. The plan is for a School of Discipleship class to be offered every few months during that time.
The first course will be “The Gospels.” It will be offered twice this spring. In April, “The Gospels” will be taught to the Under Construction and Bridge Builders classes. In May the same course will be taught to the Faith Builders and Ambassadors classes. However, anyone of any age is welcome to attend any of the School of Discipleship sessions. You don’t need to be part of our current Bible Fellowship Groups to attend.
I expect “The Gospels” to be well attended and the first of what will be an outstanding learning time for all of us. If you participate in each of the classes over the next few years, you will gain a solid knowledge of the New Testament, Old Testament, Christian Doctrine, Church History, and Spiritual Disciplines. And in the process you will grow as a disciple.

structured but tend to be divided by age and life stage by processes
of natural selection. Attend anywhere you feel most connected to the Lord, His Word and others.
