The women’s ministry packing event was deemed successful as seven dedicated women of Bethany packed 50 hygiene kits for the Autlan mission trip and 40 finals survival kits for Bethany’s college kids. With purchased and donated shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, washcloths, lotion, and soap piled high on two tables, workers moved along with ziploc bags sometimes coordinating shades of green, or Mexican patriotic colors of red, green & white all while sharing the camaraderie of fellowship and being blessed by the good deed they were doing. |

Each year a team of Bethany members & friends fly to the small town of Autlan, Mexico to help at a mission center and nearby churches. Bethany-supported missionary Sondra Pepper works at the Star of Bethlehem Church, while missionaries John & Elizabeth Rodgers run La Roca Coffee House. Each year, the short term mission project generally focuses on a VBS program, musical presentations, and facilities maintenance projects.
A new task this year, the hygiene kits will be passed out at an Indian migrant workers camp near Autlan Mexico.
Bethany’s college students will benefit from snacks of granola, cookies, candy, popcorn, and sunflower seeds while they focus on upcoming finals. Each package included a reminder card of the prayers being made on their behalf. With 40-45 students, many of them away from home for the first time, the parcel post package will be a welcome reminder of their families awaiting their return in the next month or two. |
